Prevention Is Far Cheaper Than Cure
Pre-construction termite treatment is applied during the building phase -- before slabs are poured, walls are erected, and floors are laid. This gives us direct access to the soil and foundation areas that are virtually impossible to treat effectively once construction is complete.
A proper pre-construction treatment creates a continuous chemical barrier in the soil beneath and around the buildings footprint -- killing termites on contact and blocking all potential entry paths into the structure.
It is also a requirement under SANS 10276 (the South African National Standard for subterranean termite control in buildings) and is commonly required by banks as a condition of a building loan.
When Each Treatment Is Applied
Treatment must happen at specific construction stages to be effective and SANS-compliant.
Stage 1 -- Before Slab Pour
After trenches are excavated and before any concrete is poured. We treat the bottom and sides of all foundation trenches and the entire footprint soil area with termiticide. This is the most critical stage.
Stage 2 -- After Slab Pour
Once the slab is poured and cured, we treat the perimeter of the slab and any penetrations (pipes, conduits) with termiticide before backfilling begins.
Stage 3 -- Fill Soil Treatment
All fill soil used during construction is treated as it is compacted around the foundations and beneath floor slabs where applicable.
Stage 4 -- Final Perimeter
At practical completion, a final perimeter spray is applied around the building exterior as a top-up barrier before handover. The SANS compliance certificate is then issued.
